Download the following Letters: • We have been asked to share this message with parents by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. A vaccination team will visit the school to offer an NHS flu vaccine on November 6th 2026. Please complete consents forms no later than October 30th 2026. The NHS recommends that school-age children have a flu vaccine every year to help to protect them against potentially serious illness. More than 200 children tested positive for flu at hospitals in North Wales last winter. We have already seen at Ysgol Pen Barras at the start of this new academic year a number of pupil sickness absences. To complete the form online and for more information – including a video introduction to the vaccine and animations for your child – please click here or visit bcuhb.nhs.wales/SchoolFlu • Cross Country Running Competition • CogUrdd 2027 • CROSS COUNTRY - IMPORTANT - We would like to remind you to complete the consent form if you would like your child to take part in the cross-country competition on Wednesday, 23rd September. As it stands, a significant number of children have expressed an interest in participating, but we have not yet received consent forms from everyone. Please note that no pupil will be able to take part in the event without a completed consent form submitted in advance. The link to the form can be found here. We are also looking for parents/carers to support us on the morning by walking with the children from the school to the rugby club and back again. If you are available to help, we would greatly appreciate your support. Please contact the school office if you are able to volunteer. Thank you very much for your cooperation and support. • Ysgol Pen Barras updated use of Social Media • An After-School Football Club will be held for Year 5 and 6 children every Thursday until half term. The first session will take place this week (Thursday, 17 September, 3:30pm–4:00pm). There will be separate training sessions for the boys and girls, as they will be preparing for the Urdd football competitions, which take place during the term. We kindly ask parents to arrange to collect their children from the main reception at 4:00pm. The boys’ sessions will be run by Mr Wynne Davies, Mr Arfon Thomas and Mr Phillips, while the girls’ training sessions will be led by Miss Mabli Fitzgerald and Miss Elen Jones. Mixed football sessions for Year 4 children will be held within the next few weeks. Further details will follow. • Letter - Head Lice • Head Lice fact sheet • Minor ailments services • Newsletter 10/9/2026 • The Denbighshire Active Communities Cross Country Competition will be held on Wednesday, 23rd September at Ruthin Rugby Club. The competition is open to pupils in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. Years 3 and 4 will be running 1km and Years 5 and 6 will be running 1.5km. If your child would like to take part, please complete the consent form using the link here. • After School Club Update: I would like to give parents advance notice that the Ysgol Pen Barras After School Club will be closed on the following dates during the term: Thursday, 22 October – due to the Halloween Disco organised by the Parent and Teacher Association. Thursday, 26 November – due to the Christmas Fair organised by the Parent and Teacher Association. The breakfast club will be open as normal on these dates.
