Year 5 and 6: Rhys Padarn from Orielodl will be coming to complete a mural with year 5&6 learners tomorrow. We ask
kindly that you send an old t shirt / shirt or apron in with your child to ensure their school clothes remain clean.
•
Year 5 and 6: I would like to remind you to check your children's use of Google Classroom, and the Google apps that are
used in the school. These are for school work only, not for creating any social documents to share between children. The
learners have received the above message clearly today at school. We kindly ask you to reinforce this message at home.
Through cooperation with parents we are confident that we will be able to keep our learners safe online.

As you know, a Road Safety Working Group has been established between Ysgol Pen Barras, Ysgol Stryd y Rhos and Ysgol
Borthyn. This is a community collaboration for the benefit of the safety of all our school communities. For this purpose, the
Working Group is very eager to hear parents’ views on aspects relating to road safety. This is an opportunity for parents to
express their opinions on school arrangements connected with road safety. We would be very grateful for your input. The
following questionnaire will remain open until January 5th, 2026. Thank you in advance for your responses.

Please see attached letter about Road Safety and about the latest developments regarding our Road Safety Initiative
together with Ysgol Stryd y Rhos and Ysgol Borthyn. In terms of parking, please see below illustration of one specific area
of concerns where cars are parking and blocking vehicles from exiting. (on the double yellow lines on the corner whilst
exiting- not the car which is parked correctly). Parents will have an opportunity soon to share their views in a joint
collaboration road safety questionnaire on behalf of the 3 schools very soon. We hope you will be able to contribute your
views to help us.

After-School Arrangements: For those children who usually walk home from school independently (Year 5 and 6 pupils-
with written permission): if your child is staying after school for any club – e.g. Choir, which finishes at 4.00pm – a
parent/guardian MUST collect them from the reception area, or arrangements must be in place for them to attend an after-
school club. Children are not permitted to walk home independently after a club. The permission for Year 5 and 6 pupils to
walk home from school (with prior consent) only applies at the end of the normal school day, at 3.15pm. At this time of
year, it gets dark very quickly. A number of parents have contacted school to say that they have not received the link here
for the Year 3 and 4 clubs on a Thursday afterschool. This is a great annual fundraising activity by the Parent and Teacher
Association – thank you for your support.
