Download the following Letters: 26/3/20 Keep your child busy 23/3/20 Letter from Denbighshire Council As you know, Denbighshire County Council has a responsibility to provide childcare for key workers. Ysgol Pen Barras will be open on Monday, March 23rd from 9.00 – 3.15 for these pupils. Lunch arrangements will be the same as any other day. Pupils should enter via the hall at 9.00 (not the school yard) and parents will be expected to sign your child in. We intend opening the breakfast club from 8.00 and the after school club until 5.30 before long, but cannot confirm this at the moment. It is so important that we provide this childcare during these troubled times as we work together through this pandemic. All schools have closed so we can operate safe distancing and restrict the spread of the virus. It stands to reason therefore, that this childcare is only for a few parents who rely upon the school so that they can work and help the national cause. Could you please not send your child to school if: you are not a key worker one adult in the household is not a key worker one adult is working from home an older sibling can help Would you also carefully consider which course of action holds the greater risk; sending your child to school with about 60 pupils, or sending your child to a friend’s house. We are in very difficult times and arrangements may change on a daily basis, especially as more staff become infected or have to self-isolate. Useful Websites Year 5 and 6 Childcare for key workers - questionnaire As you probably know, the Welsh Government have declared that all schools in Wales will close by Friday, at the latest. Pen Barras will be open tomorrow but closed on Friday. We will inform you in due corse when the school will re-open. Due to the coronavirus situation, we have decided to close the nursery class from tomorrow (Thursday, 19-3-20) until further notice. About half the pupils in the nursery class are ill or self-isolating and a number of staff are also self-isolating. In order to deploy the nursery staff in other areas of the school, regrettably, we have decided to take this course of action. In addition to this, Clwb Ffrindie Bach will also close tomorrow. We will review the situation on Monday, March 30th. We apologise for this inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. Following extensive thought, we have made the tough decision that both Music Cooperatives in Denbighshire and Wrexham are on shut down from FRIDAY MARCH 20th until, we hope MONDAY APRIL 20TH pending a review of situation at that time - Denbighshire Music Co-operative.
