Download the following Letters: Newsletter 18/3/26 Let's Play Out Easter Holidays 2026 School Menu Walking and cycling to school Rugby Sessions Please see attached competition programme for the Urdd Primary Regional Eisteddfod, which will be held next Saturday, March 21st, at the Llangollen Eisteddfod Pavilion. Good luck to everyone representing Ysgol Pen Barras. Newsletter 13/3/26 Newsletter 6/3/26 Pupils in Years 3 and 4 will begin their swimming lessons at Ruthin Leisure Centre next week. The lessons will take place every Wednesday morning. Pupils will be grouped according to their ability. Each child will need to bring a swimming costume, goggles and a towel. The children will travel to the leisure centre by bus, and we kindly ask that you pay £2.50 per week for the bus via ParentPay. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us. Diolch yn fawr, Year 3 and 4 Teachers We are having a non-uniform day on Friday, March 13th. Come to school in your own clothes, and bring an Easter egg or sweets with you please. The Easter eggs and sweets will be used as prizes for the Bingo night the PTA are holding. Thanks for supporting, From Dyfan yr5 and the School Council Personal Development sessions letter Kate, Ysgol Brynhyfryd Rugby Development Officer will be coming to deliver a rugby session with year 5 and 6 children on the afternoon of Thursday 12th March. We kindly ask that the children wear PE clothes on that day. The children are welcome to bring gumshields and rugby / football boots with them too. This will be an opportunity for us to discuss some of our country's important heroes and celebrate important Authors on book day. Monday, March 2nd- We will go for a trip to town to hand out St David's Day cards. Wednesday, March 11th- Yr. 2children will be singing at the 'Naylor Leyland centre' to celebrate St.David's day with the Welsh society. Thursday, March 26th - We will hold an open morning in the unit at 9:15. Hope you can join us! We look forward to the Urdd Eisteddfod on Saturday. Any practice at home to make sure the children know their words correctly would be beneficial. Please make sure they follow the times for the prelim on Saturday morning. The children should bring them home today. Information - Denbigh Minor Injuries Unit PTA Raffle - chance to win a Welsh Football shirt signed by Harry Wilson Term Time Letter Year 5 and 6 It's World Book Day next Thursday, March 4th. The children can bring their favourite book into school to share. They can also dress as a character from a book or come in their pajamas. Please see the timetable for the Urdd competition preliminaries on the morning of Saturday, 28th March at Ysgol Brynhyfryd. Also, please see the order of competitions for the afternoon, which begins at 1.30pm. We expect to receive the specific pupil times for the preliminaries before the end of the week, but the attached timetable gives an indication of the timings. 5/3/26 - St David's Day Disco Newsletter 13/2/26 Year 5 children will go on a trip to the Xplore center in Wrexham on Tuesday 24th February. The trip has been kindly funded by Xplore and Ysgol Pen Barras PTA. The children will travel to and from Xplore within school hours. The children may bring up to £2 with them to spend in the shop. Please complete this form to provide permission and to specify your child's lunch requirements. If you are not sure how to do this, you are welcome to contact the school office. Newsletter 29/1/26 Year 5 and 6: Rhys Padarn from Orielodl will be coming to complete a mural with year 5&6 learners tomorrow. We ask kindly that you send an old t shirt / shirt or apron in with your child to ensure their school clothes remain clean. Year 5 and 6: I would like to remind you to check your children's use of Google Classroom, and the Google apps that are used in the school. These are for school work only, not for creating any social documents to share between children. The learners have received the above message clearly today at school. We kindly ask you to reinforce this message at home. Through cooperation with parents we are confident that we will be able to keep our learners safe online. Evening of live entertainment Newsletter 22/1/26 Lockdown Drill Notification The School Council are organising a non uniform day on Friday 30th of January to support a local charity, Rupert's Rainbow. See the attachment from the School Council for more information. Year 5 and 6: We will be holding an open afternoon on Thursday afternoon, February 12th, where the children will be showcasing some of their work from our topic, 'The Sixties', and performing some songs and a 60's dance they've been learning. The open afternoon will start at 2pm. The children can come to school that day in sixties themed clothes, or otherwise, their own clothes. This is a community collaboration for the benefit of the safety of all our school communities. For this purpose, the Working Group is very eager to hear parents’ views on aspects relating to road safety. This is an opportunity for parents to express their opinions on school arrangements connected with road safety. We would be very grateful for your input. The following questionnaire will remain open until January 5th, 2026.
